NELSON
by Carola Oman

Carola Oman's classic biography of Admiral Lord Nelson. much of what we know about Nelson is partly or wholely mistaken. He lost the sight of his eye, not the eye itself, and he never wore a patch over it. He wore a patch as a sunshade over his good eye. The book presents a portrait of Nelson "cleaned of the gilt and varnish of legend". A very good example of this author's perceptive re-appraisal of Nelson's career. Contains numerous illustrations maps and plans
