WEAPONS AND FIGHTING TACTICS OF THE WAFFEN-SS by Doctor S Hart and Doctor R Hart The Waffen-SS was one of the finest fighting forces of WWII but its combat record was due in no small measure to its superior hardware and weapons. This is a comprehensive guide to the small arms, support weapons, tanks and anti-tank weapons, and armoured vehicles employed by the Death's Head soldiers between 1939 and 1945. The authors analyse the armoured formations and describes the actions of the great panzer aces.1999, Spellmount, , 1862270600,< F-02>,192pp, 70 photos, 40 line drawings, index, Fine in d/w, , Subject...The Third Reich - Military StructureWeb No. 28352-02..............................£10.00 |
DAS REICH by Max Hastings The march of the 2nd SS Panzer Division through France in 1944 where they were challenged by Resistance Groups. At Tulle the SS hanged 99 civilians and at Oradour they massacred a further 642. The legendary SOE operative Violette Szabo was captured by a Das Reich patrol after a gun battle south of Limoges. As the bulk of the division crawled north by road their vital petrol supplies were destroyed by bombing directed by officers and men of the SAS who had been parachuted in near Poitiers to attack German communications. They were afterwards captured and shot with only a handful of survivors.1981, Book Club Associates, , ,< F-02>,264pp, photos & maps, Good in dw, , Subject...The Third Reich - Military StructureWeb No. 29207-06..............................£8.00 |

HITLER'S GENERALS by Richard Humble This study of Hitler and his Generals assesses their military achievements and the strengths and weakenesses of the Nazi system of command. IN GOOD FAITH: THE HISTORY OF THE 4.SS-POLIZEI-PANZER-GRENADIER-DIVISION, VOL I, 1939-1943 by Friedrich Husemann The Polizei-Division was one of the lesser-known combat formations of the Waffen-SS. Composed primarily of police officers, it was formed in October 1939 and served almost exclusively on the Eastern Front where it was eventually equipped as a mechanized Panzergrenadier-Division. This volume of the two-part history covers the formation of the division in 1939, its employment during the campaign in France, and finally its commitment in the East. Its finest hour was in the action on the Wolchow River, where the Russians attempted to relieve the beleaguered city of Leningrad.2003, J J Fedorowicz, , 0921991746,< F-02>,436pp, 40pp of b/w photos, 34 maps, appendices, New in illustrated boards, , Subject...The Third Reich - Military StructureWeb No. 31531-02..............................£49.00 |
OPERATION FALL WEISS by Stephan Janzyk An account of German Paratroopers in the Poland Campaign, 1939. Although the fledgling paratroop operations in Belgium and the Netherlands in 1940, and on Crete in 1941, attracted worldwide attention, less well-known is that the use of airborne forces had been planned for the invasion of Poland in 1939, in an act that began the Second World War. On several occasions the men of Parachute Regiment 1 were sitting ready in their Ju 52 'Tante Ju' transports, fully equipped and ready to go. Many of these young and in-experienced paratroopers would go on to experience the full horrors of warfare and for some of them, the Polish Campaign would end in a ‘hero’s death’. The author uses war diaries, maps, contemporary documents and photographs, including those from various private collections around the world.2017, Pen & Sword, , 9781473894617,< F-02>,176pp, numerous b/w & colour photos, New in d/w, , Subject...The Third Reich - Military StructureWeb No. 37739-01..............................£19.99 |
