Launched in 1861, 'The Queen' was a "Ladies newspaper and Court Chronicle" aimed at those who attended court functions, and those who would have loved to have been invited. This is a social history for the most socially privileged. The General Strike was never mentioned in the pages of this newspaper as the editor didn't think it would be of interest to his readers! It included fashion, servant problems, theatre, and attitudes to war (but nothing too deep). This is a taste of its first hundred years, spanning numerous Colonial and two World Wars.
