The Tizard Mission was sent from the UK in the Summer of 1940 to provide the US and Canadians with most of the British secret military scientific developments. Its purpose was to establish a system of teamwork for Allied technical and scientific co-operation. It was the beginning of the long story of Anglo-American co-operation. Zimmerman traces the origins going back to WWI, the unsuccessful attempts to restart it in the 1930s, Churchill's role, and his sometimes tumultuous relationship with Roosevelt.
