AN EAGLE'S WINGS

The author was a founder member of the Condor Legion and flew in Spain during the Civil War. One of the most successful Luftwaffe officers, he flew over 300 operational missions, destroying 9 RAF bombers. He organized and commanded the "Wilde Sau" operations in an attempt to defeat the RAF night attacks on Germany and was the only Luftwaffe Divisional Commander to fly operationally on these missions. He also flew the ME 262 jet in defence of the Reich. A confidant of Herman Goering, he was awarded the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves.

THE LAST ENEMY

Mass market paperback. Previous owner name and date on pre-title page. Pages browning but good considering age and use. Hillary wrote this book in 1942 after being shot down and badly burned during the Battle of Britain. A member of the RAFVR before WWII, his experiences as a fighter pilot covered the early period of WWII. He was one of the first of McIndoe's 'guinea pigs.'As he gradually recovered from his injuries he badgered the authorities to allow him to return to operational flying which he eventually did. he was killed on active service in January, 1943
