JUNKERS JU 87 STUKA by Manfred Griehl The Ju 87 was blooded in the Spanish Civil war and, during the invasion of Poland, the aircraft proved to be a most effective weapon. It was not until the Luftwaffe took on the RAF that the aircraft was found to be sadly lacking defensively. The most successful version was the Gustav tank buster which entered service in 1943, and the most successful Stuka pilot was Hans-Ulrich Rudel with a tally of over 500 tanks destroyed. This book details the development of the Ju 87, with many wartime photographs plus original design drawings and plans. LUFTWAFFE X-PLANES: GERMAN EXPERIMENTAL AND PROTOTYPE PLANES OF WORLD WAR II by Manfred Griehl A guide to the remarkable range of secret planes that the Third Reich failed to complete. Despite the Allied authorities' ban on research, countless aircraft were designed and tested by the Luftwaffe and German manufacturers before World War II. The research went ahead at secret sites in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and the USSR. After the outbreak of the war this work continued. Many projects remained on the drawing board or at prototype stage because either they were deemed unsuitable or, as is the case with most of those in this selection, the developers simply ran out of time and the projects never went into production. 2004, Greenhill Books, , 1853675776,< M-01>,80pp photos., Very good in d/w, , Subject...Aviation - GeneralWeb No. 20058-01..............................£8.00 |
