I KEPT MY WORD
by Clarence B Wolfe and Susan Goodrich Giffin

A secret kept for 62 years by Clarence Wolfe, a 20 year old U.S. Army private stationed with the 134th AAA Battalion in Folkestone, Kent in September 1944. This was the only unit to fire on the day Glen Miller went missing. Their target was a small single engined aircraft heading for France which did not respond to their IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) signal. Later that day AFN radio carried the report that Major Miller's aircraft had gone missing over the channel. Wolfe believes it was him, as did his Captain. For some reason a previous owner of this book has decorated the cover and title page with metallic tape and letters.

SPECIAL COMMANDO
by Rex Woods

Royal Artillery 2nd Lieutenant Robert Wilson, returned from the chaos of Dunkirk and answered Churchill's call for shock troops who would "set Europe ablaze". He was a founder member of the SBS and went to war in a submarine - even though he was an army officer. He carried out commando operations in Italy, Sicily, Greece and North Africa, was promoted to Captain and, in 1942, ended up in an Italian POW camp from where he made two ingenious escapes. This is his story

THE YEAR OF THE RAT
by Mladin Zarubica

Allied deception and the Normandy Landings of 1944. How an Allied intelligence agent doubled as a German general and planted false plans for the Normandy Invasion on the German High Command in Paris. There is a postscript by Ralph Ingersoll, a US Army liaison officer with British Intelligence for the European invasion which lends credibility to the story, although there has to be doubt about the identity of the man who revealed it.

ZEMKE'S STALAG
by Hubert Zemke

Some fading on d/w otherwise very good. Col.Hub Zemke was the 8th USAAF's leading fighter group commander. After his P-51 Mustang broke up over Germany he was captured and became the senior officer at Stalag Luft 1, in charge of over 9,000 POWs. In the face of starvation and an arrogant Luftwaffe administration he helped organise POW's to outdo and outwit their German captors at every opportunity. Zemke and his men used subterfuge to penetrate the camp's inner HQ, persuading their captors to hand over control of the camp before the Soviets arrived and without a shot being fired.
