OMDURMAN by Philip Ziegler In 1898 General Kitchener massed his troops in Cairo and set off into the desert with an army which included the Grenadier Guards, the Rifle Brigade, the Highlanders and the Camel Corps. When the army reached Omdurman, came the last great cavalry charge in history by the 21st Lancers. It was memorable as one of the young officers who led it was Winston Churchill. 1973, Book Club Associates, , ,< C-01>,241pp, illustrations, 5 maps, bibliography, index, Good in dw, , Subject...Colonial & Other Wars Web No. 29837-02..............................£6.00 |
