Opposition to
Charles I's attempts to impose Anglicism on the Scottish church led to his
dispute with Parliament. This resulted in his trial for treason &
beheading in 1649. Oliver Cromwell took power & having defeated Charles IIs
Royalist Army at Worcester, established the Commonwealth with himself as
Lord Protector. This section features books on the history of the Civil
