The author was for General
Eisenhower's chief weatherman. His job was to predict
weather for the largest invasion in history across waters
that were frequently terrible for shipping. Stagg tells in
detail the differing interpretations of weather data from
three, often conflicting, teams of weathermen. He relates
day by day and often hour by hour the complex weather
forming over the Atlantic and heading toward England.
Ultimately D-Day had to be postponed one day due to a brief
window of good weather on expected on June 6 over the
Normandy beaches. Apparently the typical bad sea weather
expected during June was a factor in the Nazis not
foreseeing an invasion when it occurred.
Good in d/w.

Since Confederation, the Royal Regiment of Canadian
Artillery has used more than 130 types of guns and rockets.
Each filled a role in the defence of Canada serving with the
Regiment, being modified, modernized, or upgraded as
necessary, and finally being transferred to the reserves.
This book will be an invaluable resource to anyone with an
interest in these weapons. Each gun has its own section,
detailing its development and its career in the Regiment at
home and overseas. Special sections deal with the
manufacture of the guns, organization and operation of the
Regiment, and the mechanization of the artillery in the
1930s. Every gun is illustrated by at least one photograph,
many of which have never been previously published.

A superb
and almost certainly the most detailed, study of the
development of the British fighting aeroplane. Nearly 400
types are fully described, along with their development and
operational histories. They range from the Royal Aircraft
Factory F.E.2 of 1912, through the two World Wars, to the
Harrier, Jaguar and Tornado of the 1990s. The author records
the deployment of Fighter Squadrons at various periods from
July 1916 to January 1991. This outstandingly detailed
survey is enriched by a superb collection of photographs and
general arrangement drawings,
A photo chronicle covering
passenger cars used by the Wehrmacht during WWII. Their
various roles included command and communications, radio
intelligence and reconnaissance, towing, and many more
purposes. Apart
from German manufactured automobiles such as Audi, BMW, VW,
Opel and Mercedes, the Wermacht made use of vehicles made in
the occupied territories. These included Skoda, Citroen,
Renault and Peugot, and they also operated captured cars
such as the Willys Jeep, Fords, Cadillacs, Humbers,
Wolseleys and many other British and American models.
