DER TREK DER
VOLKSDEUTSCHEN AUS WOLHYNIEN,
GALIZIEN, UND DEM NAREW - GEBIET
Literally "The Trek Of The Ethnic Germans Out Of
Wolhynien, Galizien, And The Narew Zone". With A
Foreword By Obergruppenfuhrer Werner Lorenz and an
introduction by Wilfrid Bade. From September 1939, as a
result of the partition of Poland in the Hitler-Stalin
Pact, Volyn became soviet territory. The resident
population in the former German Polish territory,
consisting of approximately 65,000 people, was relocated
to Germany under the auspices of the The Hauptamt Volks-deutsche
Mittelstelle (Main Welfare Office for Ethnic Germans),
abbreviated VoMi, an NSDAP agency. This is a
contemporary photographic record of that evacuation.
There is an inscription in German dated 3.7.1944 on the
pre-title page
German text.

As early as October 1939, Winston
Churchill had proposed that, to back up the Territorial Army, a
second line of defence should be put in place made up of men not
already serving in the armed forces. The role of this volunteer
force was to guard vulnerable points such as ports, railways and
tunnels, key road junctions, possible sites for amphibious
invasion and areas which could be attacked by gliders and
paratroops. It was to become the Home Guard, initially the Local
Defence Volunteers or LDV. Operational from 1940 until 1944, the
Home Guard, comprising 1.5 million men, was given the nickname
‘Dad's Army’. This extensively illustrated book tells their
fascinating story.

JUNGLE ARMOUR: BRITISH AND
INDIAN ARMY SHERMANS IN THE FAR EAST
by
Dennis Oliver
From 1942 until August 1945, British and Indian troops battled
against the Empire of Japan and its allies across the mountains
and jungles of Burma. In a country were the weather was as
limiting as any enemy action the US built Sherman tank proved its
worth in the final campaign to drive the Japanese from South-East
Asia. Dennis Oliver describes and illustrates the role played by
these remarkable vehicles and the crews who manned them through
Britain’s longest campaign of the Second World War to the vain
attempt to maintain order in post-war Indonesia.

OSPREY OSPREY NEW VANGUARD 222:
SELF-PROPELLED ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS OF THE SOVIET UNION
by Mike Guardia. Illustrated by Henry Morshead
During the Cold War the Soviet Army was perhaps the deadliest
fighting force the world had ever seen. Within its mechanized
forces the Soviets fielded a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG)
that could keep pace with its heavy armored formations. This
volume examines the design, development and operational history
of the ZSU-37, ZSU-57-2, the ZSU-23-4, and the 9K22 Tunguska
(better known by its NATO reporting name: SA-19 ‘Grison'). These
vehicles excelled in their air defense role, and the US
Department of Defense was dedicated to examining how to defeat
the weapons and their radar tracking systems. These formidable
weapons equipped Russian forces in Afghanistan and were
encountered again in Iraq during Operations Desert Storm and
Iraqi Freedom.
