THE BEAUTIFUL BEAST: THE LIFE & CRIMES OF
SS-AUFSEHERIN IRMA GRESE
by Daniel Patrick Brown
The most notorious
female concentration camp guard, Irma Grese grew up in a small,
isolated agricultural hamlet, becoming a follower of Hitler and
the Nazis when they rose to power in 1933. From the drudgery of
farm life she eagerly embraced the doctrines of the BdM (League of
German Maidens). She served at Ravensbruk, Auschwitz and
Bergen-Belsen and was executed by the Allies in December, 1945, at
just 23 years of age. This revised volume includes an appendix
with a poem written by Grese in prison, letters to relatives and
copies of her medical records from Auschwitz-Birkenau.

A number of publications for the bayonet collector have appeared,
but the storehouse of knowledge buried in the files of the British
Patent Office has to date been neglected as a source of
information on bayonet identification. This book seeks to remedy
that deficiency. 119 Patents dealing with bayonet designs or
associated inventions are dealt with in depth. Each section gives
full details of the patent, with an extract from the inventor's
specification, comments by the author, and in the majority of
cases a drawing taken from the Patent itself.

A comprehensive biography of General-leutnant Fritz Bayerlein
(1899-1970), commander of the elite Panzer Lehr Division during
World War II and Erwin Rommel's former Chief-of-Staff. Covers his
experiences with General Heinz Guderian in the invasions of
Poland, France, and Russia, plus his service in North Africa,
Hungary, Normandy and the Ruhr. During the Russian winter of
1943-1944, Bayerlein commanded the famous Berlin-Brandenburg 3rd
Panzer Division. In his own words he shows his feelings and
frustrations on fighting a war of useless bloodshed. Bayerlein's
personal friend, Manfred Rommel, provides remarkable insight into
the man's nature. Many previously unpublished photographs plus
twenty maps drawn by Bayerlein make this book invaluable to
military historians.
