This first book in English on this fascinating military
collectible provides the reader with accurate information to
assist in determining the origin, value and history of Japanese
military Sake cups. Sake cups were commissioned by naval troops,
pilots, tank crews, cavalrymen and engineers, with an innumerable
variation of colors and designs. Each cup is a miniature time
capsule with the owner's name and regiment inscribed. They
celebrated a victory or drank a farewell toast with these very
cups.

On 7th September, 1812 at Borodino, 75 miles west of Moscow, the
armies of the Russian and French empires clashed in one of the
climactic battles of the Napoleonic Wars. The survival of the
Russian army after Borodino was a key factor in Napoleon's eventual
defeat and the utter destruction of the French army of 1812. This
new study retells the terrible story of Borodino seen from the
Russian point of view, providing a fresh perspective on the battle
and a broader understanding of the reasons for the eventual Russian
triumph.

A History of thirty four battalions of the Regiment, essentially
the fifteen front line battalions. The Royal Scots (The Royal
Regiment) 1st Foot, is a Lowland regiment, the oldest regiment of
the line in the British Army, and as if to emphasize that fact its
nickname is “Pontius Pilate’s Bodyguard”. In 1914 it consisted of
two regular, one reserve and seven territorial battalions. The
book is arranged on a chronological basis with each chapter
covering a specific period of time, whether on the Western Front
any other front where the Regiment fought.

In 1938 Third Reich
propaganda hailed the fortifications in the west of Germany, the
so called "West Wall", as an invincible barrier demonstrating to
the world the might of the National Socialist state. By the time
war broke out the fortifications provided a daunting obstacle from
Basel in the south to Kleve in the north. From 1946 to 1950 the
defences were systematically destroyed, and today there are few
visible remainders of the massive fortifications. Based on
numerous unpublished photos and documents, this book provides a
view of the West Wall from its initial construction, to the
present day.
