Misadventures of an RAF Policeman in World War II. The
unusual story of Bernard ‘Barney’ Hart-Hallam, who served as
a policeman with the Provost Marshal’s Branch of the RAF 2nd
Tactical Air Force (2TAF). On D-Day, Barney was the first
RAF man to set foot on ‘Juno’ beach. From then on, following
close behind the front-line troops, he and his colleagues in
No.6 RAF Security Section were responsible for maintaining
security in the wake of the Allied advance across Europe.
They rounded up collaborators, spies and fleeing Nazis and
were entertained by gangsters and good-time girls.
THE STORKS: THE STORY OF
FRANCE'S ELITE FIGHTER GROUPE DE COMBAT 12 (LES CIGOGNES) IN WWI
by Norman Franks
Born during the horrendous Battle
of Verdun in 1916, The Storks became France's premier
fighting group in World War I. Initially comprising the
Escadrilles N3, N26, N73 N103 and under the leadership of
Felix Brocard, GC12 counted among its fighter pilots most of
the big French aces of the war - Guynemer Fonck (with 75
victories), Heurteaux, Deullin, de Sevin, Bozon-Verdurez and
many more. It also had several American volunteers amongst
its ranks, notably Frank Baylies, Edwin Parsons, Bert Hall
and Charles Biddle. The book is packed with photographs of
pilots and aircraft plus side view drawings of aircraft and
their markings.

This is a reference guide to
Roman legionary fortresses throughout the former Roman
Empire, of which approximately eighty-five have been located
and identified. With the expansion of the empire and the
garrisoning of its army in frontier regions during the 1st
century AD, Rome began to concentrate its legions in large
permanent bases. Some have been explored in great detail,
others are barely known, but this book brings together for
the first time the legionary fortresses of the whole empire.
At the heart of the book is a referenced and illustrated
catalogue of the known bases, each with a specially prepared
plan and an aerial photograph. The book is complemented by a
website providing online links to particular fortresses and
a Google Earth file containing all of the known fortress
locations.

A comprehensive photo-history of the destruction of Army
Group Centre, June - July, 1944. The German defeat set the
scene for the Red Army's determined drive into Poland to the
Vistula River barrier. The annihilation of Army Group Centre
was, without doubt, the greatest defeat inflicted on the
German Army during World War II.
