The story of the 33rd Waffen-Grenadier Division of the SS in May
1945. As the Red Army crushed the last pockets of German
resistance in central Berlin, French soldiers fought back. They
were the last surviving members of SS Charlemagne which was made
up of French volunteers, and were among the final defenders of the
city and of the Fuhrer bunker. Their extraordinary story gives a
compelling insight into the dreadful climax of the Battle for
Berlin. Their fate after the German defeat was grim. Once
captured, they were shot out of hand by their French compatriots
or imprisoned.
A full history of the Stuka from its origins and development to
accounts of active operations in Europe, the Mediterranean and
North Africa. Used throughout World War II, this is the story of
the Luftwaffe use of the Ju.87 in such roles as dive-bomber, close
support aircraft, ship and tank-buster and night attack bomber.
Includes details of Stuka units and battle orders, prototypes plus
all variants, loss tables, and Stukas used by Italy, Romania,
Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Yugoslavia and Japan.
Germany’s Panzer Lehr Division in World War II. Panzer Lehr was
one of the most Elite units in the Wehrmacht. Formed in 1943, its
purpose was to provide additional armoured strength to resist the
anticipated Allied invasion of western Europe. Due to its elite
status it was lavishly equipped in comparison to the ordinary
Panzer divisions, though on several occasions it fought almost to
destruction, in particular during Operation Cobra. This book
follows the division from Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge to
the end of the war. Includes numerous firsthand accounts based on
interviews with veterans.
