SWORDS OF IMPERIAL JAPAN 1868-1945

by Jim Dawson

This book is claimed to be the most complete reference book ever on Japanese Government swords. Over 260 photographs and 40 line drawings show every sword authorised by the government from 1868 until the end of World War II. Swords of the Army, Navy, Diplomatic Corps, Police, Colonial Service and the swords of Manchukuo are all included, as are those of the shin-gunto and kai-gunto. This is an invaluable volume for sword enthusiasts in particular, and for students of Japanese history and militaria in general.

THE BLACK AND TANS

by Richard Bennett

The Black and Tans were the fiercest and most feared of the British forces in Ireland in the Twenties. Sent by Lloyd George's Coalition Cabinet in March of 1920 to suppress the IRA, they aquired a fearsome reputation and united Irish and British public opinion against the Government. Wearing a strange mixture of dark green tunics, khaki trousers, black belts and berets they had wide powers and could arrest anyone at will. This is an accurate and authoritative account of an ugly and harrowing period in Anglo-Irish history.

MANNOCK

by Norman Franks & Andy Saunders

The life and death of Major Edward Mannock, VC, DSO, MC, RAF. Arguably the highest scoring RAF fighter pilot of the First World War, Edward 'Mick' Mannock's life, and most particularly his death, are still shrouded in mystery. The authors have assessed all the evidence and cut through the speculation to build up a complete picture of the man and his achievements as a fighter pilot. They now reveal exactly where Mannock fell in battle ninety years ago.
