This must be the
definitive account of 9/11. The shockwaves of the September
11, 2001 attacks in America reverberate to this day. Though
Osama Bin Laden has been killed, questions remain. What
exactly happened? Could 9/11 have been prevented? How and
why did so much acrimony and misinformation arise from the
ashes of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a quiet
field in Pennsylvania? And what has yet to be revealed? The
Eleventh Day, written with access to thousands of recently
released official documents, is updated for this edition −and reports on a development which the former chairman of
Congress' 9/11 probe describes as the "most important in
years".
The
authorised edition of The United States Government
Commission’s Final Report provides a full and complete
account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11th,
2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New
York and the Pentagon in Washington DC. This fascinating
document examines the preparedness for, and the immediate
response to the attacks. It also includes rec-ommendations to
guard against future attacks. Though it is an official
report, the narrative tells the story in a readable and
interesting manner.

A HISTORY OF THE
MEDITERRANEAN AIR WAR, 1940-1945:
VOLUME THREE. TUNISIA AND THE END IN AFRICA
by Christopher Shores & Giovanni Massimello
The third volume in this series returns to November 1942 to
explain the background to the first major Anglo-American
venture − Operation Torch, the invasion of French North
Africa. It deals with the fratricidal combats which followed
the initial landings in Morocco and Algeria for several
days. It then considers the efforts made − unsuccessfully in
the event − to reach northern Tunisia before the Germans and
Italians could get there to forestall the possibility of an
attack from the west on the rear of the Afrika Korps forces,
then beginning their retreat from El Alamein. Co-authored by
Russell Guest, Frank Olynyk and Winfried Bock.
Von Richthofen: Strategy, Tactics
and Airplanes. Explores the career of Manfred von
Richthofen, top fighter pilot in the German Luftwaffe during
the First World War, and tells the story of his famous
three-winged airplane, the Fokker Triplane. Trained for the
cavalry, he switched to the Air Service when machine guns
doomed the fate of the horse soldier: if he were to die, it
must not be a pointless death. As a flier, having to
overcome a lack of talent for aerobatic maneuvering, he
chose the duel as a role model: pilot versus pilot. He
learned that much could be achieved with a powerful
single-seater machine against a low powered and poorly
maneuvering enemy two-seater. This became Richthofen's
preferred form of combat, leading to an extraordinary series
of victories.
