NATO and Soviet Air
Power, 1949-89. Throughout the second half of the 20th
century, international relations across the globe were
dominated by the Cold War. From 1949 until the fall of the
Berlin Wall in 1989, US and Soviet strategic forces were
deployed across the Arctic Ocean in North America and
Northern Russia, while the best-equipped armed forces that
the world had ever seen faced each other directly across the
‘Iron Curtain' in Europe. In Cold War Skies examines the air
power of the major powers both at a strategic and at a
tactical level throughout the 40 years of the Cold War,
looking at each decade of the war in turn, examining the
deployment of strategic in North America and Northern Russia
as well as the situation in Europe. It details the strategic
forces and land-based tactical aircraft used by the air
forces of the USA, USSR, NATO, Warsaw Pact countries and
European non-aligned nations.

The Campaign
in the desert, 1916-18. This is a study of Lawrence's ideas
and his campaign of irregular warfare which has informed
tactical theory and decision-making down to the present day.
It explores the challenges he faced in a complex environment
against a more numerous and better armed adversary, and the
manner in which he assessed what was changing, what was
distinctive, and what was unique to guerrilla warfare in the
desert. Setting Lawrence in his historical context, the book
examines the peace settlement he participated in and his
legacy today.
With a foreword by B. Bugaev,
Minister of Civil Aviation, this volume commemorates the
50th anniversary of Aeroflot, the state (and at the time,
only) civil air carrier of the USSR. Aeroflot was launched
in 1923 with a route from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod (later
the city of Gorky). Today the airline flies internally more
than 778,000km linking some 3,500 cities in the Soviet
Union, together with an extensive international network. The
book is packed with narrative plus several hundred colour
and black and white photographs showing all aspects of
Aeroflot during a typical day. This scarce volume is in fair
to good condition despite some dicolouring (sunning) of the
front board and slight detaching from the spine at the title
page.

Luftwaffe Stuka at war against Tito's partisans in
Yugoslavia, 1941-1945. The very name, Stuka, is synonymous
with the screaming sirens and the crump of heavy bombs, and
for the lightly armed Partisan forces it meant despair,
defeat and often, death. For five long years Stuka units in
the Balkan theater came and went, depending on the war
fortunes of the Axis. The bomb loads that the Ju 87 carried
and the precision with which they were delivered was a
winning combination. In September, 1943 it was the Stuka
which spearheaded the defeat of Italian forces, and until
the last day of the war it was the first line of defence
against the might of The Red Army.
