BARBAROSSA DERAILED: THE BATTLE FOR
SMOLENSK,
10 JULY - 10 SEPTEMBER, 1941. VOLUME 3
by David M. Glantz
Volume 3 contains the documentary
evidence for the first two narrative volumes. In addition to key
Führer Directives issued by Adolf Hitler to provide direction to
his forces during the Barbarossa Campaign, as well as vital
orders issued by Army Group Center, the book includes the daily
operational summaries of the participating Soviet fronts,
armies, and some divisions and many of the orders and reports
issued by the struggling Soviets. Precise translations
illustrate not only the capabilities and states-of-mind of key
Soviet commanders as they dealt with crisis after crisis.

This second 'Forgotten Heroes' title from Roy Dutton covers the
charge of the Heavy Brigade at Balaclava on 25th October, 1854, one
of the most neglected events in the annals of British military
history. Previously unpublished biographies of the men involved
bring their stories to life. More than one thousand, three hundred
men are listed with over 200 photographs and drawings. Set within
an unrelenting and cruel military campaign where many would
perish, against all odds the valiant men of the Heavy Brigade
attacked a Russian force which outnumbered them five to one.
the author is a member of the Crimean War Research Society and an

Gentlemen', draws on previously unpublished material personal
memoirs, diaries and interviews to tell their extraordinary
