The 'Tonkin Gulf
Yacht Club' was the tongue-in-cheek nickname of the US
Seventh Fleet that was stationed off the coast of Vietnam
and this book tells the full story of the US Naval air
campaign in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1975. On August 2,
1964, the USS Maddox became embroiled in the infamous Gulf
of Tonkin incident that led directly to America's increased
involvement in the Vietnam War. Supporting the Maddox that
day were four F-8E Crusaders from the USS Ticonderoga, and
this was the very start of the US Navy's commitment to the
air war over Vietnam. The story is told through the dramatic
first-hand accounts of those that took part in the
fightingand the Vietnamese perspective is also given, the
author having had access to the official Vietnamese account
of the war in the air.

The Blitzkrieg in the East,
1941-1945. The Ju 87 Stuka dominated the opening campaigns
of World War II. It was a primary weapon of German
Blitzkrieg tactics and the concept of lightning warfare.
Together with the panzer, it transformed air and land
warfare, with countries falling in days and weeks, rather
than after campaigns lasting years. With more than 100
photographs and detailed commentary, Stukas over the Steppe
captures the many roles adopted by these famous dive-bombers
as they blasted a path across Eastern Europe.

The 43rd (Wessex Division) was commanded by the
idiosyncratic General Ivo Thomas who, prior to the Normandy
invasion, had trained his formation to the peak of
efficiency. From June 1944 to May 1945 the 'Fighting Yellow
Devils' took a leading part in the operations of 21st Army
Group's campaign from the beaches of Normandy to the German
surrender.
