The story of the 369th Reinforced (Croation) Infantry
Regiment on the Eastern Front. Soon after Germany
invaded the Soviet Union the leadership of the
Independent State of Croatia expressed its desire to
participate in this "crusade against Bolshevism", thus
was the Croatian Legion created. It fought in some of
the most famous engagements of World War II, including
the first battle of Kharkov and the grim struggle for
Stalingrad, the only non-German unit to take part. The
regimental archive was saved from besieged Stalingrad
and this unique collection, which includes war diaries,
daily orders, combat reports and award recommendations,
was the primary source for this impressive book.
