The USAAF 8th Air Force 388th Bombardment Wing was activated in
the USA in February, 1943. It rotated to England in July, being
based at Knetishall, Suffolk. During the next two years the unit
undertook 306 combat missions to targets in occupied Europe and
Germany, as well as several humanitarian missions to drop food
to the starving people of Holland. The 388th lost more than 560
men, killed or missing in action during World War II. This
collectible volume contains several hundred black and white
photographs and interesting mission formation diagrams. A
facsimile of the author's signature features on the title page.
