SS CHARLEMAGNE

by Tony Le Tissier

The story of the 33rd Waffen-Grenadier Division of the SS in May 1945. As the Red Army crushed the last pockets of German resistance in central Berlin, French soldiers fought back. They were the last surviving members of SS Charlemagne which was made up of French volunteers, and were among the final defenders of the city and of the Fuhrer bunker. Their extraordinary story gives a compelling insight into the dreadful climax of the Battle for Berlin. Their fate after the German defeat was grim. Once captured, they were shot out of hand by their French compatriots or imprisoned.

THE JIHADIST THREAT: THE RE-CONQUEST OF THE WEST?

by Paul Moorcraft

This book examines the international and domestic threats to the West from Jihadism. It joins the dots in the Middle East, Asia and Africa and explains what it means for Britain, continental Europe and the USA. More Brits are trying to join the Islamic State than the reserve forces. Why? The author puts the whole complex jigsaw together without pulling any punches. After briefly tracing the origins of Jihadism from the time of the Prophet, he analyses the fall-out from the Iraq and Afghan wars and how far these fuelled the rise of the self-styled Islamic State and other terror groups and the extent these pose to European society.
