Subtitled 'Their Design, Construction and Operations', this is the
most comprehensive study yet of the Imperial German Navy's 'Panzerkreuzers',
literally 'armoured cruisers'. The eight ships of the class were
to be involved in several early North Sea skirmishes before the
great pitched battle of Jutland where they inflicted devastating
damage on the Royal Navy. The author details the design
construction, and full service history of each ship, recounting
their actions. Detailed line drawings and maps augment the text
throughout, as do a wealth of contemporary photos. Additionally,
a superb series of colour computer graphics show full length
profiles and plan views of each ship in precise detail.

Designer Heinrich Lübbe's Arado jets were put to work in a
variety of contexts. Perhaps most significantly, they were
employed in the task of photo-reconnaissance during the Battle
for Normandy, following the Allied landings in June 1944. In
this role, they brought back extraordinary images from the
invasion beaches, revealing with astounding detail the positions
and plans of the allied forces. This book features many of these
images, previously unseen by the public, shedding new light on
the battle, whilst at the same time proving the Germans'
indisputable superiority in the field of jet aviation. The fact
that the Americans hastened to transfer the Arado AR234 and
Messerschmitt 262 to the USA to uncover all their secrets
post-war indicates how they were viewed in the eyes of the
enemy.

On 20th September, 1854, the combined British and French armies
confronted the Russians at the River Alma in the critical
opening encounter of the Crimean War. This was the first major
battle the British had fought on European soil since Waterloo
almost 40 years before. In this compelling and meticulously
researched study, the authors reconstruct the battle in vivid
detail, using many rare and unpublished eyewitness accounts from
all sides. Their groundbreaking work promises to be the
definitive history of this extraordinary clash of arms.
The story of the 33rd Waffen-Grenadier Division of the SS in May
1945. As the Red Army crushed the last pockets of German
resistance in central Berlin, French soldiers fought back. They
were the last surviving members of SS Charlemagne which was made
up of French volunteers, and were among the final defenders of the
city and of the Fuhrer bunker. Their extraordinary story gives a
compelling insight into the dreadful climax of the Battle for
Berlin. Their fate after the German defeat was grim. Once
captured, they were shot out of hand by their French compatriots
or imprisoned.
