Since Confederation, the Royal Regiment of Canadian
Artillery has used more than 130 types of guns and rockets.
Each filled a role in the defence of Canada serving with the
Regiment, being modified, modernized, or upgraded as
necessary, and finally being transferred to the reserves.
This book will be an invaluable resource to anyone with an
interest in these weapons. Each gun has its own section,
detailing its development and its career in the Regiment at
home and overseas. Special sections deal with the
manufacture of the guns, organization and operation of the
Regiment, and the mechanization of the artillery in the
1930s. Every gun is illustrated by at least one photograph,
many of which have never been previously published.

After weeks of bitter fighting there was a desperate need
to break out of the Normandy bridgehead. In late July 1944
Lieutenant-General Sir Miles Dempsey’s Second Army moved two
entire corps from the Caen sector to the countryside around
Caumont. Here, British XXX Corps prepared to give battle,
with VII Corps advancing in support between XXX Corps and
the American first Army. While the XXX Corps attack stalled,
VIII Corps surged ahead and a deep penetration was made. The
author examines Monty’s refusal to seize Vire, the disputed
Anglo-American border and the Operation’s impact on the
German Mortain offensive.
DELPRADO/OSPREY AIRCRAFT
OF THE ACES (MEN & LEGENDS):
JAPANESE ARMY AIR FORCE ON THE ATTACK
by Henry Sakaida.
Editor-in-Chief Juan Ramon
Azaola
Little has been published in English on the Japanese Army
Air Force (JAAF), let alone its most successful fighter
pilots - no less than 150 of them achieved ace status during
eight years of near-constant war. From the arid plains of
the Mongolian border region to the lush jungles of New
Guinea, the JAAF was more than a match for their many
opponents. Indeed even when the mighty Allied war machine
proved almost overwhelming from early 1944 onwards, the
elite fighter pilots of the various sentais fought on with
fanatical loyalty in defence of the Home Islands. The book
includes colour artwork and profiles by Iain Wyllie, Grant
Race and Mark Styling, and black and white 1/72 scale
three-view drawings by Mark Styling.
