DEUTSCHLAND ERWACHT:
WERDEN, KAMPF UND SIEG DER NSDAP
by Wilfrid
Bade
A collectible, large format
(12.5 x 9.5 inch), Nazi propaganda piece issued by
the NSDAP in 1933. The German, Gothic text is by
Wilfrid Bade and the book includes several hundred
colour and black and white cigarette cards and
illustrations pasted in by the purchaser. These
depict Nazi activities and ceremonies in the early
1930's, and include Adolf Hitler and numerous other
senior figures in the Third Reich. There are also a
number of full page plates printed in. A folding
photographic panorama at the back of the book is
only partially complete. The book is in fine
condition throughout and is presented in dark tan
cloth binding with gilt spine title and cover motif
of an SA Trooper. There is a previous owner's
bookplate at the front pastedown plus an inscription
written in English referring to "Happy days at
Cologne, August 1938". Additionally, used as a
bookmark, is a small tipped in cloakroom ticket,
priced at One Reichsmark, apparently for a choral
performance.
