The author, an Air Force veteran, was the younger brother of a
gunner in the 755th Squadron, and became the 458th Bomb Group’s
historian. This volume includes a synopsis of the groups World
War II missions following their activation at Wendover, Utah in
July, 1943. Equipped with B-24 Liberators, they deployed to
England in January, 1944, subsequently completing 244 combat
missions. Based at Horsham St. Faith, Norfolk, they were
involved in trials of the 'Azon' bomb, the father of today's
'Smart' weapons. The book includes several colour photos of
squadron patches plus contemporary colour shots of B-24s in
action (including one colourful 'Formation Ship') plus twelve
pages of nose art.
