MASSACRE AT MALMEDY
by Charles Whiting

The story the atrocity committed by the 1-SS Panzer Battle Group under SS-Obersturmbannfuehrer Joachim Peiper in the Ardennes in 1944. One hundred and thirteen American prisoners-of-war were assembled in a field near the village of Malmedy. Though Peiper was not present, soldiers under his command from 1-SS Panzer Division opened fire on the men. They then shot, or clubbed to death, any survivors. In May 1946, Peiper and 70 of his men were put on trial. Forty-three of those accused were sentenced to death and the rest received prison sentences. The death sentences were later commuted to imprisonment. After the war Peiper took up residence in France where, in the village of Traves, he was murdered in 1974.

AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY: THE 6TH WAFFEN-SS GEBIRGS (MOUNTAIN) DIVISION "NORD"
by Massimiliano Afiero

Formed in 1941, “Nord” was employed along the Finnish–Lapland front against battle-tested Soviet forces from 1941–44. Following the signing of the armistice between Finland and the Soviet Union in the summer of 1944, the division was moved to the western front. “Nord” took part in Operation “Nordwind,” the final German offensive on the western front in late December 1944, where they fought against American units for the first time. Tough defensive fighting along the Moselle and Rhine fronts followed up to the armistice in May 1945. The units of the division fought to the last, always with courage and valor. Includes a detailed operational history, rare combat images, maps, and personaly profiles.

AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY: THE 8TH WAFFEN-SS CAVALRY DIVISION FLORIAN GEYER
by Massimiliano Afiero

Formed in 1942, the 8th SS Cavalry Division “Florian Geyer” was one of the most controversial units in the Waffen-SS. Created with the intention of making it an elite unit, it instead saw its main employment from the beginning of the war in Russia as a rear area security force against partisans. The SS cavalrymen carried out these duties with terrible effectiveness, demonstrating the full capabilities of horse-mounted units in securing terrain that was militarily difficult. Late in the war, “Florian Geyer” was employed on the front lines against regular units of the Red Army. The unit was wiped out during final battle of Budapest in February 1945.

THE 23RD WAFFEN SS VOLUNTEER PANZER GRENADIER DIVISION NEDERLAND
by Massimiliano Afiero

Employed exclusively on the Eastern Front, except for a brief period in Croatia, Dutch volunteer combat formation “Nederland” participated in many of the most difficult battles including Leningrad, the Narva bridgehead, the Tannenberg line, Dorpat in Kurland, Pomerania, and the Oder front. Finally, at the desperate battle of the Halbe Pocket, the remnants of the division avoided total annihilation, escaping the Soviets and surrendering to American forces. This work fills a gap in Waffen-SS history with appendices on the unit’s operational history, its members, uniforms and insignia.

THE 27TH WAFFEN SS VOLUNTEER GRENADIER DIVISION LANGEMARCK
by Massimiliano Afiero

The Flemish volunteer combat formation, “Langemarck”, was employed chiefly on the Eastern Front, first in the Ukraine in early 1944, then in Estonia along the Tannenberg Line in the summer of 1944. Together with other European Waffen-SS volunteers, it was subordinate to III.SS-Pz.Korps. Transformed into a division, “Langemarck” participated in the final fighting on the Pomeranian and Oder fronts. Most of the Flemish volunteers were able to surrender to the Anglo-American forces, thus escaping capture by the Russians. This work fills a gap in Waffen-SS history with appendices on the unit’s operational history, its members, uniforms and insignia.

STURMARTILLERIE: SPEARHEAD OF THE INFANTRY
by Thomas Anderson

The Sturmartillerie was a key part of Germany's armoured arsenal throughout World War II. Its armoured assault guns were designed to support the artillery on the battlefield, largely using the purpose-built Sturmgeschütz infantry support gun. This new and exhaustive study details the development and operational history of this innovative force, as well as describing how its role and the tactics it employed changed from the glory years of Blitzkrieg through to the desperate defence of the last years of the war. It also describes the technical development and evolution of the vehicles employed, and includes combat action reports and excerpts from interviews with veterans.

THE HISTORY OF THE PANZERWAFFE: VOLUME 2 1942-45
by Thomas Anderson

The final years of World War II saw the legendary Panzerwaffe face its most difficult challenges, with Allied troops landing at Normandy and storming across the continent and the Russians gaining the upper hand on the Eastern Front. Germany fought fiercely to hold on to the advantages gained in the early years, and relied heavily on the Panzer IV, the Panzer V Panther and the StuG III - the backbone of their infamous armoured divisions. This second volume offers a comprehensive guide to the final years of Germany's most famous fighting force, covering the further use of the Panzer IV, the role played by the StuG III assault gun and the battlefield debut of the formidable Panther. Combat reports and archive photographs uncover the final years of the Panzers, from their defence against the D-Day landings and the role they played in the Ardennes Offensive to their valiant last stand in Berlin.
